The AM312 is an ultra-miniature PIR module which uses a pyroelectric sensor similar to the one found in the common SR501 but in a more compact form factor.
This sensor also has the advantage of being ultra-low power with a quiescent current of only ~60uA making it suitable for battery applications where a very long battery life is required.
